Home-made tomato sauce recipe


Try this simple, healthier than store-bought, tomato sauce, using only fresh ingredients!





Ingredients:

  • 1 pack cherry tomatoes

  • 1chopped onion

  • 3 garlic cloves chopped

  • 1/4 cup olive oil

  • 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar

  • Sea-salt and black pepper to taste

  • 1 tablespoon dried oregano

  • 1 bunch fresh basil








Method:

  • Preheat oven to 220C

  • Chop the tomatoes in half and place in a bowl

  • Add the rest of the ingredients and mix well

  • Place in an oven-safe container and make sure everything is evenly spread

  • Roast for 25-30 minutes or until the tomatoes are tender and slightly charred.

  • Transfer to a heat-safe blender and blend everything together until smooth.




*Use right away on your favourite dishes or store in airtight containers and freeze.

**This recipe yields about 2 cups of sauce.
