Healthy Banana Bread

If you're a banana bread enthusiast on a quest for a healthy twist, you've come to the right place. Our banana bread recipe is not only delicious but also packed with wholesome ingredients that will leave you feeling satisfied and energised. Say goodbye to processed sugars and hello to the natural sweetness of ripe bananas with a touch of honey. We've replaced traditional butter with heart-healthy olive oil, making this treat a perfect addition to your balanced diet.

But that's not all; the best part about this recipe is its versatility. You can customise it with your favourite add-ons like nuts, seeds, or dried fruits to create a banana bread that suits your unique taste.

Ingredients:

  • 3 bananas (ripe)

  • 2 eggs

  • 113g honey

  • 70g yogurt

  • 106ml olive oil

  • 250g wholewheat flour

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

  • pinch of salt

  • pinch of cinnamon

  • approx.100g toppings of choice (dark chocolate, nuts, dates)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 175°C. Grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.

  2. In a large mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork until they're smooth.

  3. Add the eggs, honey, yogurt, olive oil, and vanilla extract to the mashed bananas. Mix well until all the wet ingredients are thoroughly combined.

  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the whole wheat flour, baking soda, a pinch of salt, and a pinch of cinnamon.

  5. Slowly incorporate the dry ingredient mixture into the wet ingredients, stirring until a batter forms. Be careful not to overmix; just combine until there are no visible streaks of flour.

  6. If desired, you can add some additional toppings like chocolate chips or chopped nuts to the top of the batter.

  7. Pour the banana bread batter into the prepared loaf pan, spreading it evenly.

  8. Bake the banana bread on the centre rack of your preheated oven for approximately 40-50 minutes. Avoid opening the oven door during this time.

  9. When the cake is ready, a toothpick inserted into the centre should come out clean.

  10. Allow it to cool completely in the pan.

  11. Slice and enjoy!

*To store: cover the cooled banana bread and refrigerate it.
